The facility is an initiative of the Downtown Project, and was created to serve as a gathering place for families and friends, a venue for concerts and special events, an incubator for up-and-coming local businesses, and as a proof-of-concept for the growing shipping container movement.

There are two fairly distinct experiences at Container Park:

Before 9PM

During the day, Container Park is an amazing place to bring the kids, shop for unique gifts, or grab a bite to eat.

For the kids, there's a 4-storey 'Swiss Family Robinson'-style tree house, complete with slides, misters to keep you cool, and high-tech games and activities. A jungle gym filled with foam blocks lies beneath a large sun shade.

The area is right in the center of the park, and has supervisors on-hand to ensure things are safe and secure.

Grab an ice pop, funnel cake or have a balloon made into your favorite character, shape or animal for the kiddies, and then pull up a chair and relax while they play.

Near the stage, you'll find a cool, grassy area with blanket-covered trampolines you can chill on and watch the young ones play with blocks or draw on the chalk wall around the space.

Every day at 8pm, you're invited to gather near the front entrance to join in a drum circle to wake the 40' praying mantis that shoots massive fireballs from its antennae.

After 9PM and Special Events

Between 9pm and close, the kids are sent home, and you're invited to let loose a little.

Grab a drink from one of the on-site speakeasys, pull up a chair and enjoy the night lights and a great conversation, or head on over to the stage and check out one of the talented local bands while they rock the house from the center stage.

We've had some amazing acts at Container Park, including Sheryl Crow - who headlined our First Friday event in April.

No matter when you stop by, you'll be greeted by friendly faces, treated to some delectable local fare and fantastic shopping with artists and entrepreneurs who care about our community. You can even get your hair cut in a caboose located behind the stage! :)
