Leather Couture by Jessica Galindo is a FASHION/FINE ART Lovechild. It's the epitome of art and fashion making a beautiful little baby with which you can adorn yourself.
THE DESIGNER:
Leather Couture by Jessica Galindo was launched in 2009 as the love child of her successful fine art career and her education from FIDM in the world of fashion. As a fine artist she has received accolades for her work and is very excited to be taking her keen sense of craftsmanship and style from the wall of the gallery to the body. Drawing inspiration from all facets of modern life Jessica has created a line of cuffs, rings, handbags and scarves that reflect the world around her. From tribal arts, to the walls of MoMa and the runways of Paris, Jessica has found a unique language to inspire both your emotion and your wardrobe.
DESIGN/CRAFTSMANSHIP:
Each work from Leather Couture is handmade and assembled by the artist in processes that can take anywhere from several hours to several days to produce. Jessica has spent many years traveling the world and our own vast landscape hand picking items she felt connected with her or matched her aesthetic. Every piece is created from various leathers from across the hide and is hand-painted, tooled, and embellished, so there will be an infinite number of variations in leather, dye, finish, and detail.
CARE:
In caring for Leather Couture, please do your best to not get the leather wet. The outside portion of your Leather Couture is treated to bead water off, however the inside of the leather piece has been left untreated as an intentional part of the design process. What this means is that as you wear your piece it will absorb oils from your skin and slowly mold to your body. The artist intends for your piece to form to you physically and would like the affirmations and words to become part of you as well. This is why there are only positive affirmations written on the works, the artist believes what we surround ourselves with, we become.
